8 Friar Lane,

Marie Lefabvre

What's the talk about?

Dr Marie Lefebvre completed her doctorate investigating the factors influencing citizens to repair small electrical products to support the academic discussion on the role of citizens in facilitating the transition towards the Circular economy.

She also supports Leicester Fixers and Leicestershire Fixers Community in organising repair events across the county, promoting repair and greater community cohesion. At Marie's viva, one of the examiner shared the skepticism of fellow academics about whether the Circular Economy would work or not and ask Marie "shall we just erase everything and start from scratch?" In this talk, Marie will reflect on her research, her work in the community, the skepticism around the Circular economy and try to identify what we need to support or erase if we want to facilitate the transition towards a more sustainable system of consumption and production.
